What a weekend… The magnificent MacGillycuddy’s Reeks of Kerry played host to 1 Big day…1 truly EPIC Adventure on the 19th of May. We finally got the weather we all deserved and boy did we make some memories!!! THRILLSEEKING adventure lovers took to the magnificent mountains of Kerry to test their stamina in Killarney’s ultimate high peaks challenge.
The spectacular one-day mountain challenge event, on the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, was a real endurance and self-sufficiency challenge on some of Ireland’s toughest mountain terrain.
Now in its fourth year, the challenge is certainly the pinnacle of all mountain adventures with the most dramatic mountain scenery in Ireland and it was an exhilarating and truly unique event which saw participants self-navigating along a pre-planned, fully stewarded route.
Organised by Kerryclimbing.ie, adventure enthusiasts trekked over 25 km of stunning, wild, rugged mountain terrain, ticking off many of Ireland’s highest summits with a total height gain of over 2,500 meters.
They traversed the entire MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, including Carrauntoohil, Beenkeragh and Cruach Mór, beginning their endurance at 5.00am, scrambling over Ireland’s highest ridges and hardcore terrain.
