Best selling author and comedian Andy Kirkpatrick returns to Cork this December with his fifth theatre tour. Since his last tour in 2011 Andy has been busy climbing all over the world and has a tonne of hilarious new stories to tell. This time around the maverick mountaineer will be talking about climbing El Cap with his 13-year-old daughter (as featured in CBBC’s My Life series), revisiting Norway’s Troll Wall, his latest winter expedition to attempt the North Face of the Eiger and his 2013 trip to Antarctica.
Hugely entertaining, don’t miss out on this fantastic evening with the only “stand-up mountaineer” in the UK!
About Andy K...
The US magazine Climbing once described Andy as a climber with a “strange penchant for the long, the cold and the difficult”, with a reputation “for seeking out routes where the danger is real, and the return is questionable, pushing himself on some of the hardest walls and faces in the Alps and beyond, sometimes with partners and sometimes alone.”
Andy has also taken part in many expeditions, including four winter expeditions to Patagonia, a crossing of Greenland, first ascents in Antarctica, and too many nights spent suffering to mention. The stories that Andy has brought back from these expeditions have become modern classics in the climbing world and have brought new meaning to the words 'epic' and 'cold'...
“Gut-wrenching, entertaining and challenging" - The Guardian
More succinctly, Metro magazine claims that he “makes Ray Mears look like Paris Hilton”.
"Andy is one of the funniest of Britain’s top climbers and represents what is best in modern British climbing: boldness, innovation, sense of humour, irreverence, commitment, and an appetite for risk".

New Low on Ireland's Highest:22nd November 2014
Horrified today while guiding a group from the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland to witness the result of a total act of vandalism on Corrán Tuathail with the summit cross after being cut down. An iconic cross on an iconic peak now lying where it fell. It beggers belief how no matter what ones personal attitude to this cross could then bring them to sinking to this unprecedented low and acting in such a shocking way. A sad day for sure.
Gardaí have been notified and and investigation is being conducted.
MacGillycuddy's Reeks Mountain Access Forum have stated that they will be organising the re-erection of the cross.
