BRIT ROCK FILMTOUR COMES TO KILLARNEY
In an era where the year’s big outdoor news and ascents are reported, captured and uploaded within days, sometimes hours of occurring, the Brit Rock Film Tour aims to bring you unique films from the outdoor world with depth, character and inspiration. There's little doubt these 3 truly inspirational films will encourage all of us to get outside, chase and even live our dreams by embracing the outdoors to as full an extent as possible.
WILD ATLANTIC -
A charming and inspirational montage by Belfast based climbing photographer Craig Hiller. Features exploratory action of many wild first ascents and adventures on Ireland's extraordinary west coast including the incredible Holy Jesus wall.
OPERATION MOFFAT -
A BMC TV production by Jen Randel and Claire Carter. A unique film from the climbing world. It doesn’t have any base jumping or wingsuiting in it, it doesn’t have huge falls or 9...b+ climbing. What it does have is something far more impressive: the 90 and a half year old Gwen Moffat, the U.Ks first Mountain Guide and a film that tackles the bigger questions with a fabulous depth and charm.
Dubbed ‘The Mountain God’, the Citadel is a stunning 3000m peak in one of the remaining untouched corners of the Great Alaskan Range: The Neacola Mountains which due to their typically poor conditions and remote location are largely unexplored. The Citadel is beautiful but deadly, plagued by bad weather and prone to avalanche.
Matt Helliker and Jon Bracey are one of the UK's most formidable partnerships in alpine climbing with many world class ascents to their names from the UK to the Alps and the greater ranges. Their objective is to make the first ascent of the extraordinary 1200m long north-west ridge.
Adventure film maker Alastair Lee embarked upon this project with the objective to push the boundaries and capture hard alpine climbing like never before. Employing the latest cineflex technology combined with an innovative vision the final results are truly incredible; the next dimension in mountain film. ‘The Citadel’ is set to be a stunning visual piece the like of which has not been seen to date.

ANDY KIRKPATRICK - COLD MOUNTAIN
Cold Mountain takes you on an adventure that is at the very boundary of the possible; physically, mentally and emotionally - a climb that laid bare the realities of modern adrenaline sports, as well as friendship.
Andy also reflects back on a lifetime spent climbing on many such cold mountains - the climbers, the climbs and the lessons he learnt there.
Cold Mountain, like all of Andy's shows, ...is hard to pin down; a mix of comedy, pathos and brutal honesty about a life on the edge in every sense.
WHEN : Saturday December 12th 2015
WHERE : Mangerton Suite, Malton Hotel, Killarney
HOW MUCH : Tickets priced at €12 available only on the door.
"A unique story teller and comedian, described as being the “The Ranulph Fiennes of British Climbing" - by the Today Program - Andy Kirkpatrick has climbed in some of the most inhospitable places on earth, from Greenland to Alaska, Patagonia to Antarctica. In this new tour we begin where his last finished, arriving in Antarctica with the task of guiding a group of BASE jumpers to the top of one of the hardest mountains in the world’.
